Cut size of Federal Government by 20%

The Federal Bureaucracy has climbed to unacceptable levels of incompetence.  They never fire anyone, even for incompetence, UNLESS they screw up so bad it makes the NATIONAL NEWS.  Then, they fire them and then only.  Example, the director of FEMA, Michael Brown, during the Hurricane Katrina catastrophe.  His department, employing over 10,000 federal employees, and despite several PRACTICE DRILLS on this type of disaster, just weeks before the actual event, couldn't deliver any water, or rescue any of the thousands of people stranded in that city for over 7 DAYS. The only help those poor people received came from private organizations like the Red Cross.

OBVIOUSLY, there may have been thousands of workers WITHIN FEMA who knew how to work on disasters and WANTED TO very badly, but COULD DO NOTHING, because they were waiting for their ORDERS from Michael Brown.  He now says that HIS PROBLEM was dealing with HIS BOSS, Michael Chertoff, because FEMA had been placed UNDER HOMELAND SECURITY.  ALL These bureaucrats know how to do is add more employees and make pretty organizational charts.  That's all I can see that ever gets done.

AND MANY THOUSANDS of homes are still laying in total destruction in the streets of New Orleans, some 4 years later.  So, what are they waiting for now?  Now we hear that the 50,000 or so trailers that the government purchased for those made homeless by Hurricane Katrina have UNHEALTHY LEVELS of ASBESTOS and FORMALDYHYDE so they can't even deliver them to the remaining homeless.

THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE E.P.A., the Environmental Protection Agency.  BUT, OBVIOUSLY, this is another bureaucracy that knows how to do NOTHING, except have lunch on time and STICK AROUND LONG ENOUGH TO RECEIVE THEIR PENSIONS.

THERE are literally thousands of examples of government inaction during times of disaster and in preparation for disasters. One of the best examples is the Central Intelligence Agency and the other NINETEEN intelligence gathering agencies of the Federal Government such as the NSA.  Despite an employee count of over 50,000 federal employees and a budget in excess of 100 BILLION DOLLARS per year, NOT a SINGLE WORD of warning, and that's what intelligence if used for, CAME TO US PRIOR TO the ATTACKS by 19 very amateurish terrorists who attacked the World Trade Center.  AND, to this day, some 7 years after the attack they are STILL UNABLE to tell us where the perpetrator is, Osama Bin Laden and how to capture or kill him.  How much more money do we need to THROW DOWN THE CRAPPER before we cut this bureaucracy down to say ten or fifteen individuals.  Using the INTERNET, 10 people could do the job of these 50,000 and save the taxpayer literally HUNDREDS of BILLIONS OF DOLLARS EVERY YEAR.

The claim has been made that "YES, even though we screwed up on 9/11, at least NOW, we're on the job and the proof is we've never had another attack since then because we found the Shoe Bomber and the plot against the Los Angeles Airport.".

BUT, in reality, there have been no further attacks on the United States because they have tightened security at all the airports making it far more difficult to hijack an airliner.  HOWEVER, this doesn't mean that the terrorists are not plotting something new that we have not yet thought about.  NO BUREAUCRACY will ever stop this kind of constant thinking about how to get us.  They will get us again, as long as we DO NOT GO AFTER THE HEAD of these terrorists, Al Quada and bring them to justice. That job is done with the United States Armed forces, NOT the C.I.A., as we have seen.  Let's cut them down to an affordable size.

The Environmental Protection Agency. This bureaucracy of over 35,000 Federal Employees is supposed to protect us from environmental problems such as bad air and bad water, UNHEALTHY BUILDING MATERIALS - and yet, the quality of the air we breathe and the water we drink, the cars we drive, the buildings we work in are steadily declining in health values and this country has steadily declined to the point where everyone is now forced to BUY THEIR WATER and carry it around with them in plastic bottles.  NOT a very environmentally friendly solution.  This could only happen in a country with too many Environmental Protection BUREAUCRATS each getting paid to do nothing.  WORSE, they are being told by the BUSH ADMINISTRATION to side with INDUSTRIES that are the cause of the problem, so who exactly are they protecting?  Let's cut them down to an affordable common sense size.  We think 100 of these people would be enough.  And, we would probably have even better results with an agency staffed by ten or less.

The Department of Education.  How much education have they given us?  Very little.  Most of our education comes in the schools.  Has this bureaucracy improved our schools in some measurable way?  All they really have done is told us that our schools need to be improved.  Do they tell us how?  NO.

THIS MEASURE WOULD CUT ALL FEDERAL BUREAUCRACIES BY 20% across the board and the method of cutting is the last 20% to be hired is to make up the number to be fired.
